The Velva City Commission voted unanimously April 21 to move the city’s insurance business to Farmers Union Insurance Agency with local representative Mark Johnson.
Johnson presented documentation and asked the Commission to consider his agency for all city insurance needs; the minutes record his assurance that coverage would remain the same or possibly be lowered. Following discussion of coverage and deductibles, Commissioners moved (Keller/Jenson) to contract with Farmers Union Insurance; the roll call recorded all ayes and the motion carried.
The minutes do not record contract terms, premium amounts, or an effective date for coverage transfer; Johnson and Connie Bryant of Farmers Union Insurance were recorded as present. The Commission did not request competitive-bid documentation in the minutes.
