The Velva City Commission voted unanimously on Nov. 18 to approve minutes from its Oct. 21 regular meeting and two special meetings (Oct. 29 and Nov. 12) and to authorize payment of bills totaling $73,666.04 and payroll totaling $32,928.57.
Commission President Mike Schreiner called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. and the commission recorded roll call before taking the votes. The motion to approve the minutes was made by Vice President Dave Keller and seconded by Commissioner Mary Liz Davis; the motion to approve bills and payroll was moved by Davis and seconded by Commissioner Gene Jenson. In each roll call, all voting commissioners recorded aye and the motions carried.
The bills list included line items submitted in the packet, such as Cartiva ($19,947.00), DonBessette ($17,000.00), LED Lighting ($7,997.98), Bechtold Paving ($5,323.55) and Circle Sanitation ($7,126.50), among others. The commission did not raise substantive objections to the payments during the motion and vote.
The decisions complete routine fiscal housekeeping for the city and allow staff to proceed with vendor payments and payroll processing. The commission adjourned at 7:15 p.m.; its next regular meeting is set for Dec. 16 at 7:00 p.m.
