Police chief reports staffing fluctuations; nuisance-yard enforcement to be complaint-driven this summer

The official said one school-resource officer will be reassigned to patrol while school is out and that some nonessential duties—specifically nuisance-yard enforcement—will be handled on a complaint basis this summer because of limited personnel. “We're gonna have to go to just a complaint based, response to that this summer,” the official said.
The official asked for patience as staffing shifts occur and said the department expects to restore regular service levels when the new hires complete training later in the year.
There was no formal council action requested; the report served as an operational update and the council acknowledged the staffing changes.
