Wahpeton School Board approves 2026–27 calendar, contracts nursing services and authorizes claims

The Wahpeton Public Schools Board of Education voted unanimously Wednesday to approve a set of routine administrative items and a short-term contract for school nursing services.
Vice President Kathy Dimmer called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. The board approved the meeting agenda and the minutes from the Oct. 8, 2025 regular meeting. The board then approved claims against the General Fund totaling $236,515.70 (motion by Robb Dohman; second Matt Vetter) and claims against the Building Fund totaling $3,852.00 (motion by Robb Dohman; second Andrea Zalewski). Both motions carried 6-0.
The board approved the Superintendent Evaluation (motion by Michelle Nelson; second Andrea Zalewski) and approved the 2026–27 school calendar (motion by Robb Dohman; second Brooke Hills). Both motions carried 6-0.
On a separate motion the board approved contracting with Essentia Health to provide school nursing services at Wahpeton Public Schools starting at two hours per day for the remainder of the 2025–26 school year, with the ability to reevaluate and adjust hours later (motion by Michelle Nelson; second Matt Vetter). The motion carried 6-0.
Business Manager Alayna Halstensgaard provided a budget update for the district; the board received the report but took no separate vote on budget policy or changes at this meeting.
The meeting concluded with routine announcements about upcoming committee meetings and the next regular board meeting, scheduled for Dec. 10, 2025 at 6:00 PM. Michelle Nelson moved to adjourn at 6:56 PM; Brooke Hills seconded, and the motion carried 6-0.
