Wahpeton board rescinds old policies, approves updates on first reading and waives second reading

Kathy Dimmer moved by committee recommendation (Curriculum/Personnel/Activities Committee) and Lisa Graves seconded to rescind policies GACA (Correspondence Courses), FFE (Extracurricular Participation Requirements), BCAA (Board Meeting Agenda and Pre-Meeting Preparation), BCBA (Public Participation at Board Meetings), and DDBD (Military Leave). The motion passed 8-0. The board then approved first-reading adoption — and waived the second reading to expedite adoption per BDA — of replacement or revised policies including GACA (Virtual Instruction), FFE (Extracurricular Participation Requirements), BCAA (Board Meeting Agenda and Pre-Meeting Preparation), BCBA (Public Participation at Board Meetings), DDBD (Military Leave), and GABE (Human Trafficking and Exploitation Prevention and Awareness Education).
The board also approved a cooperative agreement request for baseball with Richland #44 by committee recommendation. Trustees discussed a proposed therapy dog for the Agriculture Education Program; that item was discussed but no formal approval was recorded during the meeting.
Board members stated the policy updates are intended to align district practice with current needs; the transcript records committee recommendation and unanimous board approval for the listed motions.
