Lancaster certifies election results and swears in Donald Derickson as mayor

Derickson won the mayoral contest with 71 votes to James L. Foster’s 37 and incumbent Lucas McElhinney’s 44, according to the certificate read by Tallman. After the results were announced, Candy Tallman swore in Donald Derickson as mayor. Tallman also swore in Cole Tippett and Tommy Roberts as councilmembers.
The swearing-in followed routine agenda business and departmental reports earlier in the meeting. The council confirmed election outcomes on the record and completed the formal oath process; no challenges or contested actions were recorded in the minutes.
The council set its next regular meeting for May 12, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 209 Washington St., Lancaster.
