Wakefield construction team reports steady progress, punch‑list and plantings remain unfinished

On interiors, Jerry said millwork in the classroom wings and media center is nearly complete, casework for the auditorium will arrive in late July, and Schindler is finishing elevator cabs the week of the 20th. He described a multi‑week sequence for finishing cafeteria servery, ceilings and locker rooms and said many finish trades will continue through early October.
The committee pressed the project team about accepting the upper parking lot. One member said the front island remains largely bare after hydroseeding and warned that premature acceptance could end warranty coverage: "We don't accept it too soon ... so that we lose our warranty," the member said. Project staff said they issued an acceptance letter for the plantings but acknowledged the grasses did not take and that vendors hydroseeded outside the growing window. The team said they will require the contractor to repair and re‑seed the island and coordinate watering schedules.
The committee also confirmed that two damaged light‑pole bases must be repaired before poles are set. The project team said Bond (the contractor) prefers to wait to install poles until the bases are restored, and the town will coordinate the timing so installations do not require additional return trips.
Several small change orders were discussed later in the meeting (see below), and the committee asked the project team to compile punch‑list items and schedule final inspections. No additional formal approvals were recorded for the construction contract in the meeting.
The committee adjourned after routine wrap‑up.
