At its May 5 meeting the Wishek City Council handled a series of routine administrative items. Mayor Brenda Dohn appointed Daryl Kaseman to the Joint Development Authority; the council approved the appointment unanimously. Ann Be-enhausen and Staci Just described Sauerkraut Day plans and the council approved temporary closures of 2nd Ave and 7th Street to accommodate the event.
Council approved designating the Wishek Star as the city’s official newspaper (motion by Eiseman, second by Lipp, 5-0). The council approved a quote from Hawkins for a chemical pump house on Welder’s motion, seconded by Roth (5-0). A donation from a resident identified as George to replace front Civic Center grass with cement was approved (motion by Roth, second by Opsahl; vote 4-1 with Lipp recorded as the no vote). The city’s cleaning person, Shelly, resigned effective June 1; councilmembers reviewed three applicants and approved temporary pay rates of $100 per Civic event and $25 per hour for City Hall cleaning.
Council members also reviewed a vendor sewer-billing matter and instructed that the vendor pay the entire bill in accordance with city ordinance; that motion passed on a 5-0 vote. The meeting concluded with the usual adjournment.
