At its Aug. 21 meeting the West Bath School Board approved several routine but operationally important items and welcomed two new educational technicians.
The board approved the 02/2425 student/parent handbook after brief discussion and a motion to adopt. One board member praised the handbook as student‑centered rather than merely a list of prohibitions.
The board also approved a service agreement with Dr. Hannah to provide physician support to the school. The superintendent described the agreement as consistent with prior years; the motion passed unanimously. The board approved the certification committee membership required for teacher certification oversight: Mrs. Fuller will begin year one of a three‑year term, Mrs. Franklin continues year two, and the superintendent will serve as the administrator on the committee.
The board approved an overnight 5th‑grade encampment at the district’s longstanding outdoor education partner, scheduled for Oct. 1–4, for environmental education, science and team building. The superintendent noted the program’s educational value and urged continuing the multi‑year partnership.
On personnel the superintendent presented a hiring report and announced two hires to EdTech 3 positions: Caitlin Hogue (three years' experience as an educational technician) and Rachel Keller (16 years supporting students with autism). The superintendent summarized references praising both hires and the board welcomed them.
