The vote to choose a vice chair ended in a 3‑3 tie between Brenda Legare and Sue Overstreet; Collins tabled the vice‑chair election for the next meeting. "No further nominations were offered," the committee recorded during the roll call of nominees.
The re-election came amid discussion of the town's budget status. "We are unfortunately again in a default budget for the 4th year in a row," Rob Collins told the Committee, noting that the town's proposed FY2027 budget failed in the public vote, with 389 votes in favor and 617 against. Collins said more discussion is needed on how to secure passage of a budget in future meetings.
Committee members approved minutes for prior meetings (Jan. 13, Jan. 14 and Jan. 31, 2026) by general consent with some corrections.
The Committee set its next meeting for June 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall, where members plan to re-take the vice‑chair vote, review expenditures to date and discuss outcomes from the Board of Selectmen's all‑departments meeting scheduled for May 11. The meeting adjourned at 8:26 p.m.
