Premier Lakes reports algae and reduces compressor noise; Board delays Lake E4-A plantings
Summary
Premier Lakes told the River Ridge Board that lakes and dry retention areas are in good condition despite seasonal algae; a compressor cabinet reduced sound at Masters Lake from 64 to 52 decibels though staff flagged the aerator’s tone as still problematic, and plantings in Lake E4-A were paused pending agreement with Edgewater Association.

Premier Lakes representative Bill Kurth updated the River Ridge board on July 23, 2024, reporting that the lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are generally in good condition but that seasonal algae growth had been observed.
Kurth said a palm tree along the shoreline of Lake E7A was removed and that a cabinet installed around a compressor reduced the Masters Lake aerator sound level from 64 to 52 decibels. He described the reduced level as “acceptable” where measured halfway between the compressor and the screen line. Operations Manager Shane Willis responded that the concern is not only decibel level but the aerator’s tone and that moving the compressor may be considered; Willis and Kurth will coordinate and report back at the next meeting.
Supervisor Bob Schultz summarized Edgewater-area issues including flooding, piping needs, additional littoral plantings on Lake E4-A and suggested scheduling a meeting with Tim Wilkin at the Edgewater association through Cambridge Management. The Board reached consensus that Canna lilies should not be planted and agreed to delay installation in Lake E4-A until the association reaches agreement; staff will resubmit planting proposals when appropriate.
No formal action or contract award was recorded at the July 23 meeting on the lake plantings or compressor relocation; Kurth left the call after his update.
