Administrator reports development interest, audit gains and upcoming hearings; wastewater plant bids underway

City Administrator Hutchison gave a cluster of operational and planning updates during the Joint Committee of the Whole on Feb. 10.
Hutchison said staff worked with Department of Administration financial officers on the loan package discussed earlier in the meeting and noted a developer has expressed interest in building a carwash in the southeast corner of the city. He said the Plan Commission will convene Feb. 20 to review the Preliminary Plat for the Golden Meadow Estates planned unit development; staff anticipate the item returning to the Committee of the Whole and Council on Feb. 24.
Hutchison also noted procedural items: the Sex Offender Review Board will consider a waiver application on Feb. 25 and the Clerk’s Office is preparing for the Feb. 18 spring primary election. He said the city auditor’s preliminary findings show a $190,000 fund balance increase for 2024 and that the auditor will present final findings at the March 24 Joint Committee of the Whole meeting.
On infrastructure procurement, DPW Director Schoen told the committee that about five contractors walked through the Wastewater Treatment Plant last week in preparation for bids on the plant upgrade.
The committee recorded these updates without formal action at the Feb. 10 meeting; several items anticipate future review or formal hearings.
