Economic & Community Development director introduces new staff, announces $5,000 grant and Farmers Market

Economic & Community Development Director Brittany Misner used the July 10 meeting to introduce Community Development Assistant Caitlin Bowman and to update Council on outreach and projects.
Misner thanked Council for the opportunity to hire an intern and introduced Caitlin Bowman as an interim staff member who has assisted the department in recent weeks. She said the department is increasing public communication through a newsletter, social media and video content and that stakeholder meetings — the next of which will focus on healthcare providers — will continue to be scheduled.
Misner announced the village will receive a $5,000 grant from the Licking County Foundation to support community events and outreach; Chief Fiscal Officer Deborah Morgan is arranging the fund setup. She also said a Farmers Market is planned at the Village Center on July 25 from 5–7 p.m.
Misner reviewed a list of active and planned development projects, including Microsoft, a Pulte Group PRD on Canal Road, a National Church Residences senior living community on Hebron Road, a Woodspring Suites extended‑stay hotel on Arrowhead Drive, Ohio Valley Cabinets on Arrowhead Boulevard, a Spire Development multi‑family project on Canal Road (Canal Crossing), and a second phase of Cumberland Meadows condos. She said MORPC will assist with a design guidebook for prospective projects and that the village is pursuing overlay districts and zoning amendments.
Misner reported roughly 39 active code enforcement cases and thanked the Police Department and staff for assistance with property cleanups; she identified three parcels that need consistent mowing. Council acknowledged the report and staff will continue stakeholder outreach and follow up on the Planning & Zoning timeline for development applications.
