Dimitrios Makeidis asks Hebron council to fast‑track rezoning for patient care at former dental office

Dimitrios Makeidis asked the Village of Hebron Council on June 26 to rezone two properties at 820 W. Main Street and 104 N. 9th Street from R‑1 Residential to GC General Commercial so he can open a physical office there. "If the zoning is not changed quickly, it would cause about an eight‑week delay in my patients’ care that could be detrimental to them and their families," Makeidis said after taking the oath to speak.
The Planning & Zoning Board recommended the rezoning and the application packet notes the site was previously used as a dental office. Economic & Community Development Director Brittany Misner told Council the property is currently zoned residential and staff are working through the required steps for a zoning change.
Makeidis said his business is a small family operation and the location in Hebron is geographically suitable and would meet a local need. Council did not act on the rezoning at the June 26 meeting; Mayor Valerie Mockus reminded attendees that public testimony could also be offered during the visitor comments portion of the following council meeting when Council will take up the matter.
No formal motion or vote on the rezoning was recorded at the hearing. The Planning & Zoning Board recommendation and public testimony will be part of the record when Council considers any ordinance at a later meeting.
