Braselton council approves Chase Bank site plan, denies and tables multiple applications and amends development code

At its Aug. 12 meeting the Town of Braselton Council approved the Chase Bank site plan with planning commission conditions, denied or tabled several rezoning and variance applications, approved Application #24-04 with a revised security condition requiring surveillance capable of transmitting to the Braselton Police Department, and approved amendments to the Braselton Development Code.
The Town of Braselton Council took several land‑use actions Aug. 12, approving a bank site plan, denying or tabling multiple rezoning and variance applications, and adopting amendments to the town's development code.
Councilmember James Murphy moved to approve the Site Plan, Landscape Plan and Building Elevation for Chase Bank at Braselton Village, with conditions recommended by the Planning Commission; Councilmember Richard Harper seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Later in the meeting Councilmember Becky Richardson moved to deny Application #24-01-RZ; Councilmember Tom Logan seconded and that motion passed unanimously. Councilmember Logan also moved to table Application #24-02-RZ until the September council meeting; Councilmember Murphy seconded and it passed unanimously.
Councilmember Logan moved to deny Application #24-03-VAR; Councilmember Murphy seconded and the motion passed unanimously. In the same portion of the agenda Councilmember Logan moved to table Application #24-03-RZ until September (seconded by Councilmember Harper) and then moved to deny Application #24-03-SU (seconded by Councilmember Murphy); both motions passed unanimously.
Councilmember Becky Richardson moved to approve Application #24-04-SU with conditions recommended by the Planning Director; Councilmember Richard Harper seconded and it passed unanimously. Councilmember Harper then moved to approve Application #24-04-RZ with conditions recommended by the Planning Director and to replace condition 4 with new wording: "A surveillance system shall be installed within the common areas capable of transmitting data to the Braselton Police Department." Councilmember James Murphy seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
The council also voted unanimously to approve Amendments to the Braselton Development Code. The meeting record notes Mayor Kurt Ward left the meeting after initial items; the subsequent votes were recorded as passing unanimously among the remaining councilmembers. The meeting adjourned at 6:07 p.m.
