Confluence Trail applications tabled; commission agrees on 'Meeting Hill Woods' name and pursues mapping assistance

The Hillsborough Conservation Commission on Sept. 10 tabled Confluence Trail applications for West Main St. and discussed related coordination with utility and wildlife agencies.
Member Linda White reported she received an email response from Eversource about an osprey nest associated with a proposed pole project; Eversource has forwarded the Commission’s concerns to its environmental specialist and has not made a final decision. Member Terry Yeaton said he contacted Fish & Game and that agency will reach out to the town’s Environmental Department.
In a separate work-session item, Recording Secretary John P. Segedy said he has been discussing wording for public access to the Underpass Trail with the School Superintendent. Member Jim Riddle said he needs one remaining GPS coordinate, and reported historical research that identified a town meetinghouse north of Meeting Hill Rd. The Commission agreed by consensus to name the conservation property at the end of Meeting Hill Rd. "Meeting Hill Woods." Riddle said he spoke with Barbara Richter at the New Hampshire Association of Conservation Commissions, who indicated mapping assistance might be appropriate for an intern or grant; Riddle will prepare a draft application for the next meeting.
No formal votes were taken on the Confluence Trail or naming beyond the recorded consensus to adopt the "Meeting Hill Woods" name and to pursue mapping assistance.
