Commissioners on July 23 received an update on trail work at Shedd Brook Conservation Area on Beard Brook Road. James McDonough and volunteer Jim Narloch reported walking the north line of the property, flagging a loop trail and cutting some blowdown to clear the route.
James McDonough said the pair observed unauthorized slash and cutting in the area and that Sasha Kramer (who was unable to attend) expects to present a map of the property at the commission’s next meeting. Commissioners discussed creating a looping trail from the river back to the access easement.
The commission also reviewed a draft Trail & Conservation Property List and expects a final draft at a future meeting. No formal action was taken on trail design at the July 23 meeting; further mapping and review were anticipated.
