Hillsborough commission advances trail mapping, CAI contract and intern grant application

The Hillsborough Conservation Commission on Sept. 24 reviewed several trail-related items, including an updated heritage report for the Confluence Trail, a proposed town-mapping update by CAI Technologies and a draft intern grant application.
Chair Richard Head said he received an updated Heritage Bureau report on the Confluence Trail and will forward it to the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services for their review. Linda White reported no new information on the Eversource pole project and noted reports of declining osprey numbers; Head suggested following up with Eversource in early 2025 if no further updates arrive.
Commission member Jim Riddle presented a revised trail and conservation-property list and proposed renaming the document “Hillsborough Hikes.” The commission reached consensus to adopt the new title.
Riddle also reported that CAI Technologies told him it could add the commission’s data to the town’s property maps and cards but that doing so would cost $700 per year in addition to the $3,000 the town currently pays for mapping services. The CAI representative said a smaller downloadable and printable map could be produced for a one-time charge. Chair Head said he will discuss the proposal with Town Administrator Laura Buono.
On staffing support, Riddle shared a draft intern grant application. Recording Secretary John P. Segedy suggested clarifying the computer skills sought and Roger Shamel asked for a clearer reference to prior work the intern would build on. The commission agreed to submit the application with minor edits and asked Head to notify the town administrator.
No formal votes on projects or contracts were taken at the meeting; items were advanced for follow-up and administrative action.
