Salisbury Planning Board reviews master-plan survey draft; hears questions on Center Road subdivision and pond ownership

Mike Tardiff presented a draft master-plan survey to the Salisbury Planning Board on June 1 and asked members to review the questions and suggest eliminations. Tardiff told the board he would like the survey to launch by the end of the month and run for about six weeks; he said it would be available online and on paper and suggested advertising via the fire department sign, the town website and social media.
Board members discussed other business items raised at the meeting. Ken Egounis asked whether any filings had been received for a conceptual subdivision near Center Road and Route 4; Joe Schmidl said the board would likely have been notified if materials had been submitted. Egounis asked that right-of-way ownership be clarified as part of any subdivision review and raised concerns that adding five houses in the area would increase traffic and create speed-limit concerns.
David Kelly asked whether a 200-foot frontage and setback requirement applies; Schmidl said those requirements were likely adopted in the 1970s, but no definitive citation or document was provided during the meeting. Resident Bill MacDuffie Sr. asked whether the town owns or holds an easement for the fire pond on Oak Hill Road; board members had no specific answer and suggested checking the registry of deeds for ownership or easement records.
The board set a tentative next meeting for Monday, June 15, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. and adjourned at 7:01 p.m. after a motion to close the session.
