Hillsborough commission to brief Selectmen on EPA lead-and-copper rule letters; inventory work planned

The Town of Hillsborough Water & Sewer Commission discussed its obligations under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI) and Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) and agreed to request time on the Board of Selectmen's Nov. 13, 2024 meeting to review proposed customer-notification letters.
Commissioners reviewed an inventory of service locations and identified a subset labeled as 'Unknowns' that require investigation. The group agreed exposing and resolving those Unknowns within the next year would be beneficial. Administrator Penny Griffin and staff member Cody Boisvert will solicit proposals from firms to locate and document those service points and will bring the proposals back to the Commission.
The commission did not reach any final compliance milestones at this meeting but set a clear next step: a joint discussion with the Selectmen about customer outreach and a plan to obtain professional proposals to complete the inventory work.
