Council appoints Ken Rathje to complete mayoral term after Stahl resignation

Ken Rathje was appointed by the Caseville City Council on Feb. 16, 2026, to fill the remainder of Mayor Christopher Stahl’s term after the council accepted a resignation letter from Stahl.
The motion to appoint Rathje was made by Councilmember Jeff Hervert and seconded by Councilmember John Tait. Support for Rathje was recorded from Tait, Jacob Kretzschmer, Hervert and Jason Krueger; Councilmember Dawn Talaski recorded her support for an alternate nominee, Jerald Ignash. The motion carried and Rathje was sworn in and took the mayor’s seat to preside for the remainder of the meeting.
Mayor Christopher Stahl was listed as absent for the meeting. The council took no other formal action related to the resignation beyond the appointment and swearing-in. The meeting continued with the regular agenda after the appointment.
