Lake Park council adopts cemetery ordinance, approves equipment and software purchases

The Lake Park City Council on May 5 approved an ordinance authorizing acquisition of Old Lake Park Cemetery and approved several municipal purchases and a software contract.

City Clerk Lisa Johnson read the second reading of the proposed cemetery ordinance. Council Member Zach Fletcher moved to approve and pass the ordinance as read; Council Member Arthur Keckley seconded. The motion carried unanimously, 4-0, formally adopting the ordinance to acquire the Old Lake Park Cemetery.

The council approved procurement items for public works and administration. Council Member Zach Fletcher moved to accept Ace Cargo’s bid for a Public Works dump trailer for $10,000; Council Member Blake McMillan seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The council also approved purchase of signage for Tom’s Pond Park at $357.18 on a motion by Council Member Arthur Keckley, seconded by Council Member Busby Courson.

On software, City Clerk Lisa Johnson summarized quotes for a new municipal utility billing system. Council Member Zach Fletcher moved to accept the bid from Redline Data Systems; the motion was seconded (the transcript lists the seconder as “Arthur Fletcher”) and carried unanimously, 4-0. The council accepted the March financial report in the same meeting.

The actions were procedural votes required to implement city operations; no amendments or dissent were recorded. The council also noted remaining committee vacancies and that the GEFA water improvement project is in the design phase.

The meeting adjourned at 8:23 p.m.; the next regular council meeting is scheduled for June 2, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
