Atlantic Beach to add designated golf-cart parking at three beach accesses

Town Manager John O'Daniel told the council on Feb. 13 that staff will update Chapter 5 to authorize designated golf-cart parking at three additional beach access points. Under the proposed change, five spaces on West Drive would be part of the paid parking program, four spaces would be designated at Dunes Avenue (Council requested two additional spaces there), and two spaces would be designated at Raleigh Avenue. O'Daniel noted that the Circle spaces are already paid and monitored while Dunes and Raleigh have not been monitored under the paid-parking enforcement program.
Public-works staff confirmed they could add the two requested spaces at Dunes Avenue. Council consensus was to place the amendment on the February consent agenda so it can be enacted ahead of the summer season.
The work session did not include a formal roll-call vote on this ordinance change; the item will return on the regular meeting consent agenda for formal adoption.
