Atlantic Beach council adopts beach-rule changes, expands golf‑cart parking at Club Colony access

The Town of Atlantic Beach Council adopted two amendments to its beach and shore regulations during its Feb. 17 meeting, tightening rules about beach equipment placement and approving designated golf‑cart parking at three public access points.
Ordinance 25-02-01 amends Chapter 5 to clarify restricted placement of tents and chairs in lifeguard zones, establish size limits for digging on public trust beach areas and require filling large holes, and to allow temporary beach restrictions or prohibitions. The ordinance was approved as part of the consent agenda and carried by a unanimous 5-0 vote.
The council also approved Ordinance 25-02-02 to permit golf‑cart parking at West Drive, Dunes Avenue (Club Colony), and Raleigh Avenue access points. Per council direction from a Feb. 13 work session, the Club Colony/Dunes Avenue allocation was revised from two spaces to four before the ordinance was approved as part of the consent agenda; Mayor Pro Tem Austin Waters noted signs will be posted at the lifeguard stand explaining the new rules.
The ordinances were adopted on a consent motion that included several other routine items. Town Manager John O'Daniel had circulated the revised language for Ordinance 25-02-02 in advance; Mayor Pro Tem Waters moved to swap in the revised version and Councilmember Joey Dean seconded the motion, which passed 5-0.
Council did not receive any citizen comments on the items at the Feb. 17 meeting. The ordinances appear in the consent agenda alongside budget and tax reports and are recorded in the meeting minutes.
