Hillsborough working with regional planners on $70,000 joint grant application, CNHRP says

Mike Tardiff, a representative of Central New Hampshire Regional Planning (CNHRP), told the Town of Hillsborough Water & Sewer Commission on Aug. 27 that CNHRP is assisting Hillsborough, Epsom and Henniker in applying for a joint planning grant totaling $70,000. He said the estimate for Hillsborough’s portion was based on a prior cost estimate from Underwood Engineers.
Tardiff said the study’s scope is not intended to be limited to the Rte. 9 Gateway Corridor west of the Rte. 31 intersection or the Rte. 202 “Walmart Hill” area and could include other parts of the town. The three communities are pursuing the joint application to coordinate planning across shared corridors and connections, he said.
Commissioners did not set a timeline in the meeting minutes for submitting the application or for a final scope decision. Underwood Engineers’ prior estimate was cited as the basis for projected costs, but no additional cost breakdown or grant match requirements were recorded in the minutes.
Next steps recorded: CNHRP will assist with the application; additional project scoping and cost details will be developed as part of the planning process. No formal vote on grant acceptance or matching funds was recorded in the meeting minutes.
