The Peabody City Council on July 9 confirmed two volunteer appointments: Marie Bishop to the Council on Aging and Alan Heidelbaum to the Cemetery Commission, each for two-year terms ending Dec. 31, 2027.
A councilor introduced both nominees and praised their long volunteer records and work on city programs including concerts, conservation efforts and services for older residents. The council moved to approve both appointments and took a roll-call vote that carried without opposition.
Both nominees were present at the meeting and were congratulated on the council floor. The appointments will be recorded with the clerk and the nominees may begin participating in their respective boards immediately per the city's appointment procedures.
