Council extends inspection window for sale of 16 Trade Street, moving potential closing date

The amendment lengthens the inspection period from 90 days to 180 days and incorporates the closing window into that extended inspection period.
Whitman said the change would move the potential latest closing date from March 19 to April 28 if the buyer utilized the contract’s 10-day grace period. Mayor Pro Tem Scott Styers moved to approve the amendment; Council Member Payton Williams seconded. The council approved the contract amendment unanimously (recorded 6-0).
The amendment does not alter the sale price or other material terms disclosed in the meeting minutes; it changes only the inspection and closing timeline. Staff will continue to coordinate with the purchaser to track inspection items and the closing schedule.
