The Town of Jefferson Select Board approved a $13,200 estimate from Central Paving to make temporary repairs on Airport Road, the board reported at its Sept. 23 meeting.
Highway Department representative Mike Kenison presented the estimate: three truckloads (66 tons total) of material at $200 per ton for a $13,200 total. Selectman Norman Brown moved to approve the estimate and Selectman Kevin Meehan seconded; the motion passed unanimously, according to the minutes.
The board directed Administrative Assistant Amanda Simino to send a letter to Whitefield documenting a proposed 75% cost-split to see whether the neighboring jurisdiction will share the expense. Selectman Brown also said the town will coordinate with Presby and the power plant operators to avoid posting the road while repairs are scheduled.
The board noted the approval covers temporary paving only; members asked for additional quotes and longer-term plans for the road surface to be discussed as part of next year’s budget work. No effective date or contractor start date was specified in the minutes.
