EDA hears updates on planning work, library programming and an absent school report

During the Nov. 7 meeting, staff briefed the Economic Development Authority on several local updates including the Board of Supervisors' A&E selection process, Planning Commission work and library programming.
Vivian Seay, a staff member, updated the authority on the Board of Supervisors' process for selecting an architecture-and-engineering firm to prepare a master plan related to a property purchase behind Central High School. Seay also reported that the Planning Commission is updating the Comprehensive Plan and the Zoning Ordinance, including considering adding data centers and removing the requirement to rezone to Industrial for solar facilities; a citizen application for rezoning to allow an aquaculture operation is under consideration.
Erin Lazar, a staff member working on community programming, said the library hosted voting on Tuesday with 518 voters, now holds more than 5,000 books in its collection, and has growing program and book-club participation. Lazar also noted that Riverstreet has leased a billboard near the telework center.
Dr. Carol Carter and Dr. David Curran of King and Queen Schools left the meeting early and provided no report in the transcript.
