EDA: Timmons site study moving forward; county incubator draws early interest

EDA staff reported that Phase I of a Timmons-led county site study is underway with completion expected in August or September and that four businesses have expressed interest in leasing space at the EDA-run Hubb 33 incubator.
Kelly Evko, a staff member for the King and Queen County Economic Development Authority, told board members the EDA continues to work with engineering firm Timmons on a county site study and that Phase I is expected to be completed in August or September. "They are continuing to move forward with Phase I with completion expecting in August or September. There will be another update in June," Evko said.
Evko said she, Vivian Seay, Ms. Sprouse and Chairman George Longest met with Timmons and that the firm is advancing the study toward the Phase I deliverable. The study is meant to identify and advance sites that could attract new businesses to the county.
Vivian Seay said she is preparing membership agreements for Hubb 33, an EDA-leased shared office space, and that four businesses have already expressed interest in leasing office space. "There are already 4 businesses interested in leasing office space," Seay said.
The EDA will receive another update on the Timmons study in June and will continue developing lease terms and membership agreements for Hubb 33 as demand is assessed.
