Principals announce STEAM night, kindergarten orientation and author visit; Kings Park updates Kiss-and-Ride

During the Kings Park PTA General Membership Meeting on Feb. 6, 2026, principals Dotty Lin and Christine Ritter outlined spring events and operational changes for the two elementary schools.
Dotty Lin reported that Kings Park will hold STEAM Night on April 27, kindergarten orientation on March 25 (registration is open), and that progress reports will be sent home on April 10. Lin said PTA funds were used to purchase extra classroom tables and described a revamped Kiss-and-Ride procedure that consolidates drop-off to a single lane. Class pictures are scheduled for Feb. 9–10 and the school community is preparing the yearbook.
Christine Ritter provided updates for Kings Glen, welcoming new Assistant Principal Chrissy Gibbs, who previously spent five years as an assistant principal at Hunt Valley. Ritter said visiting children’s author Wendy Wan-Long Shang will meet students on Wednesday and Thursday this week. She described a Spirit Wear program and a staff-driven “Gator Gold” recognition that rewards students with buttons for positive behavior, and reminded families of an early release day on Feb. 18.
These announcements were presented during the principals’ reports portion of the PTA meeting; no formal votes were associated with the program and scheduling updates.
