Wareham launches Ride Onset shuttle pilot; board accepts Council on Aging donations and praises veterans flag display

During the July 7 meeting, a board member announced the Ride Onset free shuttle pilot, a 15-week program intended to ease traffic and parking in Onset. The pilot uses two vans (one handicap-accessible), is funded by the Onset parking program and the Wareham Redevelopment Authority, and — according to the board member — had about 200 users as of the previous day. The board member emphasized there is no tax impact to residents for the program.
The board also accepted two donations to support the Council on Aging: an anonymous $50 gift to be used for any purpose, and $1,870 from the Friends of the Wareham Council on Aging to pay for Father's Day breakfast events. Motions to accept both donations were moved, seconded and approved.
A board member thanked Brandon Sand of the Wareham Veterans Council and JROTC volunteers for laying out a grid of 250 American flags at the war memorial between town hall and the multi-service center in honor of the country's semiquincentennial. The board noted the flags were paid for by the town.
