Select Board approves entertainment permit for 12 Knots restaurant in East Wareham

A board member read the application and said all paperwork and green cards were in order before opening the public hearing. The application referenced Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 140 for weekday entertainment and Chapter 136, Section 4 for Sunday entertainment.
The restaurant representative told the board that "99 and a half percent of the time, it's simply gonna be overhead music," explaining the jukebox is built into the wall and would be used mainly to amplify background music. The applicant said occasional live performances might occur for special events such as weddings or holiday observances and that there were no plans for outside speakers.
A board member raised a concern about a recent complaint alleging Sunday entertainment had extended past 10 p.m. The applicant, citing nearly 40 years in the restaurant business, said they do not expect live entertainment to run late and do not typically have performances past 10 p.m.
After questions, the board closed the public hearing, moved to approve the weekday and Sunday entertainment under the cited statutes, and voted in favor. The applicant thanked the board and said the restaurant was having a soft opening that day.
