Williston approves 2025 legislative counsel contract and license renewals

At its Dec. 23 meeting, the Williston Board of City Commissioners approved a 2025 legislative counsel service agreement and moved several licensing items forward.
City Administrator Shawn Wenko presented a service agreement with GA Group, PC to provide legislative counsel and related services from January through May 2025 for $35,000 plus expenses. Commissioner Tate Cymbaluk moved to approve the contract; Commissioner James Bervig seconded. The commission approved the agreement unanimously, 5-0.
Finance Director Hercules Cummings reported the city has 60 alcoholic beverage license holders for 2025 with combined new‑license and renewal fees totaling $228,400. Cummings said 13 of those licenses had not yet passed Building or Fire inspections; City Attorney Olson advised that licenses not signed off cannot be issued until inspections pass. The commission approved the 2025 alcoholic beverage renewals contingent on required inspections, final signatures and compliance (motion carried 5-0).
Cummings also reported 268 business license holders eligible for renewal, with total fees of $51,770; renewals were approved contingent on required inspections and compliance (motion carried 5-0).
