Williston approves motor grader and four police SUVs totaling about $555,800

Public Works Operations Manager Bret Williams recommended awarding the AWD motor grader bid to Tractor & Equipment of Billings, Mont., for $368,244.96, below the department’s $450,000 budget for the item. Commissioner Tate Cymbaluk moved to award the bid; Commissioner Brad Bekkedahl seconded the motion. The commission voted 5-0 to approve the purchase.
Operations Captain Rodney Dickerson presented two responsive bids for four 2025 AWD police SUVs, reporting Nelson Auto Center’s bid of $187,552 and Red Rock Ford’s bid of $193,764. The commission voted to award the contract to Nelson Auto Center for $187,552. Mayor Howard Klug noted Nelson Auto Center serves as the fleet center for Red Rock Ford and observed the purchases were local. The motion to approve the SUVs carried 5-0.
Both awards were treated as standard procurement items on the Dec. 23 consent/agenda sequence and were approved during the bid openings portion of the meeting. The purchases will proceed according to the awarded contracts and standard purchasing procedures.
