The commission approved Burns & McDonnell Task Order #20 for 2025 engineering services (not‑to‑exceed $178,900) and Task Order #21 for a 2025 solid‑waste permit renewal (not‑to‑exceed $194,000).
Bergstrom also presented Alliance Consulting Task Order #25‑1 to cover closure, survey and design work for cell six reconstruction and an expansion. He said completing design now would reduce cost compared with postponement and explained the project increases design costs. Though Bergstrom described the additional need as roughly $439,110 on top of planned work (producing a combined need he described as about $621,000), the commission approved Alliance’s task order with a not‑to‑exceed amount of $559,100.
Finance Director Hercules Cummings told commissioners the landfill enterprise has sufficient cash to proceed but that future rate adjustments may be necessary to support financing. Commissioners approved the three task orders by roll call vote.
What happens next: Public Works will manage consultant work and return with budget or rate adjustments if long‑term financing requires it.
