Williston awards $23.6 million Sloulin Field Airport redevelopment contract; approves street, truck and vehicle purchases

City Engineer David Juma reported the NDDOT bid openings and identified Reede as the low, responsive bidder. Commissioners praised Juma and staff for their work on the project and approved the award by roll call.
In related transportation work, the commission accepted Knife River’s $608,968 bid for the 26th Street E mill and overlay and directed the city engineer to finalize contracts with NDDOT and Knife River. Public Works Director Kenny Bergstrom said Knife River submitted the low responsive bid for that Local Urban Aid project.
On fleet purchases, Bergstrom reported one bid for an automated front‑load refuse truck from Northland Truck Sales at $364,710 (over a $305,000 budget); the commission awarded that purchase to Northland Truck Sales and rejected an over‑budget automated side‑load refuse truck bid. Fire Chief Matt Clark presented bids on a replacement multi‑purpose command vehicle; the commission awarded that purchase to Red Rock Ford for $66,165.30.
