Members of the Quinton Township Planning Board said on May 12 that the master plan committee has met several times to discuss the townships future vision, focusing on zoning and development standards.
Chair Larry Winkels reported committee conversations about lowering the three-acre minimum lot size, adjusting setback limits in the village, and dividing the planned business/residential (PBR) zone to allow different treatment. Committee members also discussed soil removal and extraction limits and ways to promote small businesses. Solicitor William Horner reviewed the existing soil removal ordinance and said his reading is that only lots listed on a license may remove soil and that expansions beyond listed lots are not permitted; he recommended that licensing be placed in a separate section of the code to be handled by the committee.
When Board member Todd Boker asked whether sections of the master plan can be amended without a total re-examination, planning professionals responded that a reasonable re-examination is required but it need not re-review every element if a full re-examination has been completed within a reasonable timeframe.
The discussion frames potential future ordinance work but did not include any formal amendments or votes. The board opened and closed public comment on related items and will continue work through the master plan committee before presenting formal ordinance text for review.
