District outlines strategic plan action steps and buys new data system for reporting

The staff member leading the Student Achievement Committee update said the administration will translate the recently completed strategic plan into a first-year action plan and a five-year forecast for the board to review.
The staff member said the district has laid out ‘‘pillars, strategic objectives, key performance indicators, and an action plan’’ and that administration will now "do the heavy lifting" to produce annual action steps aligned with those priorities. The presentation emphasized mapping existing required plans (library plan, education-for-employment/ACP and building improvement plans) into the strategic action plan so those requirements are not overlooked.
On district data systems, the staff member announced the procurement of a new data warehouse called Next Path, developed by a local vendor described as a successor to EduCLIMBER. "They built the most popular data house in the market...and they went and created a better product," the staff member said, adding the vendor already serves about 70 districts. Committee members were told the subscription is priced at about $5 per student and carries a three-year commitment with an opt-out in May.
The staff member said Next Path will help the district meet state reporting requirements and permit automated distribution of personalized reading plans to families. "There's a parent option that we can even email plans out directly from there," the staff member said, and staff noted nightly integrations between assessment tools and the warehouse so teachers and intervention teams can access results the next day.
Committee members sought more detail on how the district will display comparative data. The presenter said she plans to refresh the district dashboard to include comparable graphs and asked for committee feedback on adding demographic indicators. "I probably am gonna give this a whole refresh once I know more," she said, and asked members whether to start fresh this year or include past trend years.
The committee did not take formal action at the meeting. Staff said they will bring the administrative action plan and an updated dashboard to the board and staff will follow up with committee members on specific data displays and the five-year forecast timeline.
The committee adjourned after scheduling follow-up work and planning a time to review report-card release materials ahead of the board meeting.
