Bogue council accepts agenda and minutes, hears planning board resignation and street project update

At its Aug. 18 meeting the Bogue Town Council approved the agenda and July minutes, noted $687,581 in town cash, received the resignation of Planning Board member Mike Panzarella and heard that Simpson Construction will place rock on Chimney Branch Road this fall.
Mayor Robert O'Chat called the Town Council of Bogue to order at 6:00 p.m. Monday at Bogue Town Hall and led the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer before roll call confirmed Mayor O'Chat and council members David Padgett, Albert Taylor, John Dale, Mike Crose and Allison Cannon were present.
Council Member John Dale moved to approve the meeting agenda; Council Member Mike Crose seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Dale then moved to approve the July 21, 2025 regular meeting minutes; Council Member David Padgett seconded and that motion also passed unanimously.
Under new business Mayor O'Chat announced the resignation of Planning Board Member Mike Panzarella and said the council will consider new applicants to fill the vacancy. No formal appointment or vote was recorded at the meeting.
In department reports Mayor O'Chat reported total town cash funds of $687,581. Town Clerk Barbara Owens said there was nothing to report on the budget and that one zoning permit had been issued for a private swimming pool at 121 Pine Needle Circle.
On street work, Council Members Taylor and Padgett had no reports but Mayor O'Chat said Simpson Construction is scheduled to begin placing rock on Chimney Branch Road in the fall. Council Member John Dale said he would obtain and install a light for the town hall flagpole if a flag is present. No emergency management update or events were reported.
At 6:05 p.m., Council Member David Padgett moved to adjourn; Council Member John Dale seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Mayor O'Chat announced the council's next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 15, 2025.
