Palmyra superintendent reports first solar-customer contact, pretreatment inspection dates and water-line easement talks

Superintendent Brent Abell told the Palmyra Board of Public Works on Oct. 15 that the setup for the Taste of Palmyra event has been finalized and that operational work across the utility departments is underway.
Abell reported several items for board awareness and future action. "Palmyra has been contacted by its first solar energy customer," he said, and the city's engineer will meet with property owners to discuss easements needed for a planned raw water line upgrade. Abell also reported that fire hydrants are currently being tested and that the annual pretreatment inspection will take place between Oct. 27 and Oct. 29.
Abell said he will ask the board at its Nov. 6 meeting to approve a quote for new warehouse doors with a window and to approve a contractor quote to break up and remove concrete and pillars on the north side of the warehouse. Those procurement items had not yet been presented for board approval as of the Oct. 15 minutes.
Abell provided an update on a union petition during the meeting; the minutes note that an update was given but do not record further details about the petition or next steps. The board adjourned at 6:27 p.m.
