Palmyra board authorizes switch to Cintas for uniforms and supplies at $336.85 weekly

The Palmyra Board of Public Works on Oct. 15 authorized Superintendent Brent Abell to terminate the board's agreement with Vestis and enter a new $336.85-per-week contract with Cintas to supply flame-resistant (FR) clothing, PPE shirts and facility supplies.

The motion to authorize the contract was made by President Ernest W. Boulware and seconded by Tim Browning; the board carried the motion "on a call of ayes and nays," the minutes state (vote tally not specified). Abell was instructed to discuss the Cintas agreement with Mayor Adrian before signing.

Board action to change vendors covers employee protective clothing and supplies currently obtained through Vestis, and expands procurement to include rugs, mops and rags under the Cintas arrangement, according to the superintendent's report recorded in the minutes. The board did not record a roll-call tally in the minutes for this vote.

The authorization came amid routine business: earlier in the session the board approved the meeting agenda, the Oct. 2 minutes, and bills for the electric, water and sewer departments (motions carried; tallies not specified). Superintendent Abell also told the board he will present several procurement items at the Nov. 6 meeting, including a quote for new warehouse doors with a window and a separate contractor quote to remove concrete and pillars on the north side of the warehouse.
