River Ridge board approves $105,000 package of solar speed-radar signs to bolster traffic enforcement

The River Ridge Community Development District Board on Nov. 19 approved AV-Tech LLC estimates to install three permanent 15" solar-powered digital speed-radar signs and one mobile unit with cameras and message capability, and to enroll devices in cloud service at $1,500 per device per year, for a combined total of $105,000.
The decision followed a presentation by Operations Manager Shane Willis and comments from Eric Long, PSGRC General Manager, who said the existing unit recorded about 800 varied speeding violations over a three-week period and recommended moving it 20 to 30 yards to improve enforcement. Willis said poles to mount relocated equipment will be purchased from Paramount Asphalt for roughly $1,200 each.
The board discussed broader traffic-calming plans, including a previously budgeted $150,000 for traffic-calming initiatives and the possibility that the homeowners association would assume cloud-service costs and offset them with covenant-enforcement revenues. On a motion by Bob Schultz, seconded by Kurt Blumenthal, the board approved the AV-Tech wiring and installation estimates (motion passed; vote recorded as unanimous).
The approved package funds permanent signage, a mobile unit and associated cloud services; staff said the mobile unit and pole purchases are intended to improve detection and placement flexibility, and to support PSGRC and CDD enforcement options. The board did not set implementation dates at the meeting.
