Southborough Select Board approves Common Victualler license for Fresh Monkey

The Town of Southborough Select Board on July 10 approved a Common Victualler license for Healthy Shakes LLC, which plans to operate in town under the name Fresh Monkey.

The vote, taken by roll call during a brief remote meeting, followed a motion by the Chair and a second. The Chair said the shop had received approvals from the Board of Health but still required Select Board licensing. Patrice, the applicant for Healthy Shakes LLC, joined the meeting remotely and answered questions about the business and its opening timetable.

Patrice said Fresh Monkey already operates in Westborough and planned a soft opening in Southborough, but a supplier missed a delivery, so the launch was pushed to July 20. "We are really excited to start doing this," Patrice said, and confirmed she would pick up the original signed license at the town office on Monday after the board emailed a signed copy.

Board members recorded affirmative votes and the Chair announced the license approved. The board noted inspections through the Board of Health had been completed. The Chair said staff would email the signed license immediately and make the paper original available for pickup.

Following the licensing vote, the board moved to adjourn and took a roll-call vote to close the meeting. A member raised an unrelated informational query about a drone and an earmark after adjournment.

The Select Board did not take other actions at the meeting. The applicant provided operating hours as tentative: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends, subject to change based on demand.
