Garfield County commissioners approve equipment purchases, MOUs and monthly financial reports

The Garfield County Board of County Commissioners on July 6 approved a series of contracts, interagency agreements and financial reports, including the purchase of voting booth stands and multiple memoranda of understanding with the Garfield County Criminal Justice Authority.
Vice-Chairman Reese Wedel moved to approve the minutes from the Board's July 1 meeting; the motion passed with Commissioners Clarence Maly, Wedel and Joe Kegin Jr. voting aye. The Board then met with Shari Monsees, Election Board Secretary, to consider a quote from Print Elect for voting booth stands. Commissioner Joe Kegin Jr. moved to approve the $16,952.10 quote; the motion passed with ayes recorded for Maly, Wedel and Kegin.
The Board approved a county construction management selection for District 2 (project JP#24868(09)), a $7,000.00 painting quote from Paint by Jerricho for jury rooms and other courthouse spaces, and Resolution #26-97 renewing equipment leases for the commissioners. Commissioners also approved Resolution #26-98, an interlocal cooperative agreement with contiguous counties for FY 2026–2027.
Several memoranda of understanding and a lease were approved that take effect July 1, 2026 and run through June 30, 2027: an MOU between the Board on behalf of the Garfield County Sheriff and the Garfield County Criminal Justice Authority, a lease agreement between the Board and the Criminal Justice Authority, an MOU between the Garfield County Information and Technology Department and the Criminal Justice Authority, and an MOU between the Garfield County Safety Department and the Criminal Justice Authority. The minutes record the approvals and note the effective dates; the motions to approve those items were made by Commissioners Kegin and Wedel and carried by the Board.
The Board approved a claim against the State Election Board to reimburse the Election Board Secretary, Shari Monsees, for July 2026 salary in the amount of $5,599.58. Commissioner Joe Kegin Jr. moved to approve and sign the Garfield County Treasurer Monthly Fee Report for the month ending June 30, 2026, in the amount of $501,628.42; that motion passed. The Board also approved the June 2026 monthly reports from the County Clerk, Health Department and Treasurer, subject to audit.
Finally, the Board examined and approved a detailed warrants and purchase-orders list covering prior-year and current-year payments across county funds, including General, Highway Unrestricted, Health Department, Use Tax, Jail Sales Tax and Rural Fire Departments; the clerk read the vendor list and amounts into the record and the Board approved payment.
The Board set its next regular meeting for July 13, 2026 and adjourned.
