The Kenowa Hills Public Schools Board of Education met Feb. 26, 2024, at Alpine Elementary School and approved a set of routine motions affecting district operations for the 2024-25 school year.
The board voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda. Member Courtade moved to approve the consent agenda, and Member Hart supported the motion; it passed 6-0.
On separate motions the board:
- Approved a resolution to strike delinquent taxes as presented by Alpine Township (Report #24-016). The motion was moved by Member Hart and supported by Member Courtade; it passed 6-0.
- Approved the purchase of a band tower from Educational Steel Products LLC for $63,225, with installation costs of $25,500, totaling $89,625 (Report #24-017). Funding for the purchase will come from a $50,000 anonymous donation to the Instrumental Music Boosters and $39,625 from the Capital Projects Fund. Member Hart moved the purchase; Member Courtade supported the motion. The board approved the motion 6-0.
- Approved a resolution to opt out of the State Schools of Choice Section 105 program for 2024-2025 (Report #24-018). Member Hart moved the resolution and Member Courtade supported it; the motion passed 6-0.
- Approved a resolution to participate in the State 105c Schools of Choice Program for 2024-2025 (Report #24-019). Member Courtade moved and Member Hart supported the resolution; it passed 6-0.
- Approved participation in the Kent ISD Collaborative Schools of Choice Program for 2024-2025 (Report #24-020). Member Hart moved and Member Courtade supported the motion; it passed 6-0.
- Approved publishing 145 openings through the Kent ISD Cooperative Schools of Choice Program and unlimited openings through the State 105c program for 2024-2025 (Report #24-021). Member Hart moved and Member Turner supported the motion; it passed 6-0.
All votes listed above were recorded as passing unanimously by those present; specific roll-call tallies were noted in the meeting minutes as 6-0 where recorded. The meeting adjourned at 7:59 p.m.
