The Kenowa Hills Board of Education met in special session Dec. 10, 2025, to conduct the 2025–26 mid‑year evaluation of Superintendent Hopkins and voted unanimously to adjourn into closed session for that purpose.
President LaBotz called the meeting to order at the Kenowa Hills Administration Building and the board approved the meeting agenda on a motion by Member Hart, supported by Member Courtade. The board approved the Nov. 24, 2025 regular meeting minutes on a motion by Member Courtade, supported by Member Hart; both motions were recorded as carrying 6–0.
Member Hart then moved, and Member Courtade supported, that the board adjourn to closed session under M.C.L. 15.268 §8(a) to conduct the superintendent's mid‑year evaluation. The minutes record the motion as carried 6–0. The board convened the closed session at 6:04 p.m. and reconvened to open session at 8:02 p.m. The minutes do not disclose the content of the closed session, consistent with the statutory exemption for certain personnel evaluations.
Member Roberts is listed in the minutes as absent for the meeting. The minutes do not record any formal votes or decisions arising from the closed session; the board returned to open session and continued its public agenda items.
