Tecumseh council adopts One and Six Year street plan, appoints Matt Schaardt as street superintendent

Council member Lorie Topp moved to adopt the One and Six Year Plan; Alicia Brommer seconded the motion. The resolution passed with Lance Beethe, Brian Britt, Alicia Brommer, Tyler Speckmann and Lorie Topp voting aye; Travis Goracke was recorded absent. The council also approved the year-end certification form for the City Street Superintendent by motion of Tyler Speckmann, seconded by Brian Britt, with the same recorded aye votes.
The council then approved the appointment of Matt Schaardt as Street Superintendent for the 2026 year. The appointment was made by motion of Lorie Topp, seconded by Lance Beethe, and carried on a unanimous vote of members present.
In related operational reporting, Streets Superintendent Doug Goracke told council staff are working on design for Arrowhead Drive, patching potholes, preparing plows and ordering ice melt for winter maintenance. The clerk's report also noted that the Handibus Board voted to increase Handibus rates and that staff continue to work on year-end audit tasks.
