Tioga commission approves $2.2 million in contractor payments, accepts trail change order

City commissioners on Sept. 16 approved multiple large contractor payments and a change order covering ongoing public works projects.
Engineer Josh Reiner reported on several capital projects and presented Change Order #1 for the Tioga Dam Nature & Recreation Trail Phase 1, proposing the use of landfill millings rather than gravel for the trail base; the commission discussed the engineering recommendation and voted to accept Change Order #1.
The commission approved Contractor's Application for Payment #3 for the North Main Street Reconstruction in the amount of $1,285,456.03. Commissioners also approved FCI Constructors' Application for Payment #2 for work on the Tioga Community Center in the amount of $786,251.70; FCI reported the bulk of the payment covered earthwork and utility work. Separately, the commission approved a Knife River proposal for asphalt patching priced at $167,100.00.
Reiner also updated the commission on the Water Service Line Inventory required under the Lead and Copper Rule, noting the city must conduct a customer survey, develop a sample site plan and send notifications to water customers.
These votes moved multiple capital projects forward; commissioners indicated forthcoming walk-throughs and scheduling for striping and seeding on completed roadwork. The commission approved each pay application and the Knife River proposal by roll call.
