Habitat for Humanity launches outreach in Whitley County, offers up to $3,000 in critical repairs

"We have up to $3,000 right now," he said, describing the program as a way to help homeowners who cannot afford essential repairs that could otherwise force them from their homes. He said Repair work will prioritize keeping people in their homes — for example, seniors or widows who cannot afford necessary fixes.
Barlow described a regional operating model in which back-office functions such as paperwork, marketing and grant writing are handled by a neighboring county office while a local presence supports outreach and on-the-ground work. He asked county leaders to refer residents in need and said Habitat wants to be a partner to the community.
Commissioners thanked Barlow for the introduction. No formal action was taken during the public-comment period.
